Aberdeen Preview
By: Matt | September 26th, 2008
Once again, dear Offsiders, Celtic will be matched up with the livestock lovers of the North Aberdeen. Any match up with the Dons guarantees numerous poor jokes about Sheep by yours truly. So sick back and enjoy. The Sheep have been struggling to find the pasture (that’s one) this season, only being shepherded to 7 points this season so far. If there is any good news for Dolly and company’s trip South this weekend, it is that all of the Dons victories have come on the road. Of course, everyone remembers the last day of the season last year. Not only did Celtic beat Dundee United, but if they would have faltered it would have been alright as Timmy in Red,Zander Diamond, and company took care of Rangers, which brings us to the age old debate, just who exactly hates Rangers more. While I do not think that many people would argue that the history and “other” issues as well create the greatest rivalry in sports between Celtic and Rangers, Aberdeen have their fair share of hatred to those in blue. Say as much as a sheep would hate a wolf? (That’s two)
Onto the actual game, Aberdeen will be missing defender Andrew Considine and midfielder Jamie Smith for this weekend’s action, while Celtic could be without Barry Robson, who is still fighting a pulled groin. Celtic will also be missing defender Gary Caldwell due to a one match ban from a red card earned against Kilmarnock last weekend, so we will see new Bhoy Glen Loovens, who got the first goal of his career at Celtic against Livingston in the CIS Cup match on Wednesday. Expect to see shit-hot striker Georgios Samaras and fat arsed Scott McDonald up front. The crystal ball also sees the end of Gordon Strachan’s Riordaning (see what I did there?) of Aiden McGeady on Saturday.
After Celtic’s disappointing draw, to which some are saying ended our Champions League hopes, to Aalborg, Celtic have been taking out their frustrations on all of Scotland. After big defeats over Kilmarnock and Livingston, Celtic have seemed to find their scoring touch and a line up that produces goals. I expect more goals this Saturday, perhaps along the lines of 3-0 to Celtic. The ewe’s of Aberdeen should be warned.
(three sheep jokes? I must be losing my touch)
Finally, as earlier reported on this very site, Celtic will be signing American part time model/keeper Dominic Cervi. Cervi is 23 years old and last played with Tulsa University. He has also been capped by the US Under 23 team and was on the US Olympic roster behind some guy who plays in England. Gordon Strachan had this to say of Cervi “Jim Blythe, our goalkeeping coach, will be working with him and we see him as a two-year project.” So does this mean Celtic is expecting one Artur Boruc to be here for two years?

Well they played together last week no, PSU?
Aberdeen have been terrible so far, and I agree Matt that our good run should get us the three pts.

Matt, that picture is just wrong. Good thing none of my co-workers strolled by my desk. Whew!!!
So anyway, I predict a 3-1 victory for the Hoops. Goals scored by Giorgios, Big-Arsed Skippy, and Naka off a free kick.

The Celtic Offside respects the choices of their sheep loving friends in the north of Scotland but does not condone relations with Sheep.
