Celtic close in on young Czech leftback
By: Matt | December 15th, 2008
According to his agent, which we learned from the Gabriel Tomas saga this summer might not be very meaningful, 18 year old Czech leftback Milan Misun is close to signing with Celtic. Last week Misun and his fellow young countryman Anton Fantis were at Lennoxtown for a trial and apparently the young leftback impressed Gordon Strachan and company. The 18 year old currently features for the Czech league side FK Pribram and has also been a member of the Czech Republic’s U19 team. Misun has also received interest from AC Milan, but it seems that after seeing him in action this past week, Celtic wanted to sign him right away. Ondrej Chovanec, Misun’s agent had this to say, “”The first round of negotiations lasted four hours with chief executive Peter Lawwell and another meeting should take place after the weekend. A group led by coach Gordon Strachan and football development manager John Park told us of their intention to sign Milan immediately.” After the saga with Gabriel Tamas and his army of agents, I never want to say a signing is done until he is holding the scarf above his head at Parkhead, but it is at least promising to see Celtic trying to address the leftback issue. Hopefully Celtic scouts have a found an immediate fix to the problem, and not a “future solution”.

Don’t think it will be for anything close to the present sadly…
