Celtic Shorts 07.10.07
By: JT | July 10th, 2007Fulham inquired about left back Lee Naylor recently and were promptly told to take a hike by Wee Gordon Strachan. It took us a long time to get a solid left back. Naylor’s been all guts since he got to Celtic Park, there’s no way he’ll be leaving anytime in the foreseeable future.
Earlier this summer, West Brom’s midfielder Jason Koumas and striker Diomansy Kamara were reportedly Celtic targets. Its highly probable that when Peter Lawwell was working out the deal that sent Craig Beattie to WBA he tried to make one of these two guys, probably Koumas, part of the deal. Why not just buy them outright? Because Koumas cost £5m for Wigan and Kamara cost £6m for Fulham! That’s insane money for good but not great Championship level players. If ever there was a league between the Premiership and the Championship, these two guys would be perfect for it. I realize the SPL isn’t La Liga, but if you’d prefer a season long relegation scrap in front of 15,000 folks to Champions League football before 60,000, then go get some boys!
Mark Brown is now the official #2 keeper since David Marshall left for Norwich, but he has his sights firmly set on Artur Boruc’s job. I really don’t think Boruc’s spot between the sticks is up for grabs, but its good to see the professional attitude from Brown and his unwillingness to be satisfied with a role on the bench. Brown also likes what he’s seen so far from Donati, and figures that once he masters the intricacies of the language, he’ll be one of the Bhoys.
Toulouse may be preparing a bid for Celtic misfit Thomas Gravesen. They could offer him Champions League football and a cool kit, so it might just be the out that we’ve all been looking for the Dane.

Brian, that seemed to be a one day rumor. Haven’t heard a peep about it since.
Well played, Ben. That’s probably pretty accurate. But those two guys were looking at going to Celtic, and I think most sane people would agree that Celtic and Rangers are mid table Premiership quality at least.
Fuck jetblue. Thank you, my day has been hell.
