CHAMPIONEEES!
By: Matt | May 22nd, 2008
I am probably far to drunk to write this…
First off, I would like to thank the Cleveland CSC for all their hospitality! Beers were bought and titles were won, and I couldn’t have had a better time! If you are a Tim and are in Cleveland, then head to the Blarney Stone as they will take great care of you!
What a fucking result, eh?! Not only did Celtic get the win…BUT THE FUCKING HUNS LOST!!!!! OH THE RANGERS ARE SHITE! Special thanks to our ewe loving friends, appreciate the effort Dons, but it was not needed!
It was not a dominant performance by Celtic by any means, but when has it been this season? If this was the first Celtic game you saw all season, then the Bhoys performance at Tannadice was a pretty good representation of the entire season. Celtic controlling in the beginning of the game, some defenses lapses, chances just missed, and a second half winner. Perhaps the most telling event of the game that represented the season was Barry Robson’s performance in the second half. The Celtic Offside’s blog admits they have perhaps gushed at length about Robson, but here comes some more. Robson made passes, stopped some potentially dangerous counters by Dundee United, and was a very calming influence in this blog’s humble opinion.
Besides a few “squeaky bum” defensive lapses and Dundee counters, Celtic controlled the possession, but were having trouble finishing. Credit must go to Dundee United keeper Lukas Zaluska, who made a few great saves to prevent an early lead for Celtic. Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink finally became the point man we’ve all wanted him to be and headed in a beauty of a ball. That was all and more Celtic needed with the Sheep taking care of the Huns.
What a transition it has been from two months ago. Rangers were calling themselves the Champions elect and talking about a “quad”. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Two defeats at Celtic Park, Russians who scoff at “anti-fitbaw”, a “minority” of Rangers supporters rioting, and a draw at Motherwell really changed the tunes of Rangers supporters. While some might claim Rangers lost the league, Celtic did everything that was asked of them even though it was a tall order.
Credit must go to Gordon Strachan. Strachan recieved numerous pelters from Celtic supporters, including me, but Strachan never let his team quit. He made a staff change bringing in Neil Lennon to inspire, and made tactical changes, bringing in Robson and Hartley to the middle. When these changes were made, the turn around towards the league title was made, and you must give credit to Strachan. He becomes the third coach in Celtic history to win three titles in a row, joining the big names of Jock Stein and Willie Maley. Strachan has said it was “one of his best nights”, and after losing friend Tommy Burns, deserves this title!
It certainly wasn’t easy, and Celtic fans might have a higher blood pressure because of it, but damn it, it was a season to remember! CHAMPIONEEEEEES!

Congratulations!
Glückwunsch! I’d usually say “have a beer for me as well”, but in this case…
And many, many thanks for what the club has done to rebuild Andreas Hinkel as a player (Stuttgart supporter here, in case you were wondering ;-)). It’s been so wonderful to see him regain his confidence and show what he can do.
Anyway, congratulations again!

JVOH for president! What a result. What a game. After the loss to Motherwell at home, who seriously believed we would be where we are now? And to have it come at the strangers’ expense is beyond sweet. Though, as Peter Lawwell said last year “We don’t care who finishes in second place.”
