C’mon Baby, you know she doesn’t mean anything: Hamilton Preview
By: Matt | November 14th, 2008
Hey baby, how’s it going? Where have I been? Oh, around here and there. I would have called, baby, I would have but I’ve been busy. What do you mean, have I been seeing other people? There’s just friends, I swear. They can’t hold a candle to your beauty. I think we need to have a talk, honey. You see, you’ve been kind of difficult and moody lately. Now I’m not sure if its a certain part of the calender for you or what, but the whole kicking out your most ardent supporters thing…I can’t say I am a fan. Have you been hanging out with the New York Red Bulls crowd? I knew they were trouble…Anyways, when you do stuff like this, it makes me reconsider our relationship. And when there are such available options so close by, it makes it tough. Even you cannot deny the beauty of a Chris “Top Flight” Wright dunk or a perfect Guillermo Barros Schelotto cross. Yet, no matter what you do, no matter making me think for most of a season that Rangers will win the title only to take it on the last possible day or appoint a bunch of wankers to your board, you know I’ll always come back. I’m glad we had this talk. *smooches*
So apparently I chose a bad week to hate technology and go semi-MIA in the Celtic blog world. Three games in two weeks, a UEFA fine, a possible replacement to Artur Boruc, and the whole kicking your own fans out for peacefully protesting. Let’s go through it all TOGETHER!
Wednesday night, Celtic easily dispatched of Kilmarnock 3-0, with two goals coming from young Cillian Sheridan and a third goal from Shunsuke Nakamura, who shocked the world and actually scored from open play. The story of the match was not Celtic putting away Killie with ease for the third time this season, but rather Celtic Park Stewards throwing out all fans who participated in the walk out protest last Saturday against Motherwell. The protest was to show the fans objection to poppies being put on Celtic kits. It is reported that about 300 fans participated in the protest and then when they came to their seat on Wednesday were removed from the ground. This is a highly disgraceful act by Celtic for punishing fans that peacefully demonstrated their feelings. The club belongs to these people and not money and fame grubbing war mongering cunts who have the title of “Chairman”. And to quote everyone’s favorite Shrimp Business Tycoon, “That’s all I have to say about that.”
While on the subject Celtic Park stewards, apparently their prowess in keeping real fans from the games has left them weak in the area of keeping wankers off the pitch. Celtic’s recent home Champions League fixture against Manchester United saw a pitch invader enter the field in the 35th minute. You may remember another fan doing this last year after Celtic scored the late winner against AC Milan last year as well. Apparently UEFA frowns on this type of thing and has fined Celtic £42,000 for the latest security break down. Good work stewards, just keep making sure that there are no “outside flags” at Celtic Park…idiots.
Celtic apparently have a thing for Polish keepers as they are currently trying to convince Dundee United keeper Lukasz Zaluska to come to Glasgow after his contract runs out in January. Craig Levein is trying to plead with Zaluska to stay, but I doubt the big money and fame of Celtic will be something Zaluska is turned off by. Plus the opportunity to learn from and possibly be the replacement of his countryman Artur Boruc might attract Zaluska. If Zaluska were to come to Celtic, it would certainly seal Marc Brown’s fate of movign somewhere else in January.
In the world of *cough, cough* conspiracy *cough, cough*, Celtic have drawn Dundee United in the semi-finals of the CIS Cup, which allows for the possibility of a Celtic-Rangers final, as Rangers have drawn Falkirk. Celtic will face United on Wednesday January 28th to decide who will travel to Hampden for the finals.
Finally onto issues in the immediate future, Celtic will be on the road this Sunday to take on the Hamilton Accies. Celtic come into the fixture red-hot, winning their last eight in a row, while the Accies….*ahem* NOT SO MUCH!, only picking up a point in their last five contests. The amazing thing about Celtic’s recent run is the amount of injuries that they’ve had while making this run. Yet Celtic fought through the injuries and now enjoys a four point lead over Rangers, after Rangers draws against Dundee United and Motherwell. The scary part for the rest of SPL is that Celtic is now getting healthy again. Wednesday’s match saw Georgios Samaras come off the bench as a sub and Shunsuke Nakamura back healthy and scoring. Even with the injuries, the current Celtic squad has built some sort of chemistry and looks to continue their winning ways against Hamilton. My prediction 3-0 with goals from Scott McDonald, Brown, and Naka.

The Bhoys’ play of late has been stellar, considering the rash of injuries that have afflicted the squad. The SPL opposition has been weak (Killie played like shite, Accies are worse), but the cluster of fixtures has enabled Strachan to finely tune his well-oiled machine.
The potential Zaluska transfer does not bode well for our new American Bhoy, Dom Cervi. However, does he even have his passport yet? Is he training with the squad?

Chris-All these injuries couldn’t have come at a better time for Celtic. Killie, St Mirren, Hamilton, etc…not exactly Man U. But the question becomes as players become healthy, will Strachan break up this line up that seems to have developed some chemistry?
As far as Cervi and Zaluska, Strachan said that Dom will be a project for the future. I believe he is only 19 or 20, lots of time to develop. He has also not received his permit yet, so I’d assume he’s not training yet but I believe he has an Italian passport and the rumor is that it should get him a work permit where Brad Guzan and others did not get it their first time around. I think Zaluska is just a replacement for the unsure hands of Marc Brown. Brown has bellowed that he wants to be transferred and he will be in January, especially if Zaluska comes in. Z also might be an insurance policy if a big club comes in with Scrooge McDuck swimming pools of money for Boruc. I definitely rate Z higher than Brown and I think he’s one of the better keepers in the SPL.
