Comings and Goings (with a focus on the latter)
By: Matt | June 8th, 2008
In on field action, Artur Boruc’s shaky Polish defense left him to give up two goals against Germany in Euro 2008 action. Yet, there seem to be a few moves from Glasgow shaping up off the field. The first of which is oft-criticized Lee Naylor. Sources have Portsmouth headman Harry Redknapp interested in Naylor and has put in a bid in the neighborhood of £2 million. The word is that numerous Celtic fans have offered to pack Naylor’s suitcase and drive him to the airport if needed for his move down south.
Big Bobo Balde has not seen much first team action these past seasons and has expressed a desire to be able to move on to a place where he can see first team action. Both Birmingham and Wolves have expressed a desire to help fulfill this wish of Bobo’s, but there has been no mention of an actual bid being made by either team.
Dutch young midfielder Evander Sno has also attracted attention from recent UEFA bad boys Porto. I hope that Celtic do not sell Sno as he is very young and seems to have lots of potential. Sno has struggled in the past and received his fair share of criticism, but it would seem that given the chance to learn from seasoned veterans Barry Robson and Paul Hartley might help him develop into a first team spot for Celtic.
In other news of other teams that should be keeping their grubby hands to themselves, Dutch striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has knocked back a bid from both Feyenoord and Werder Bremen to stay in Glasgow with Celtic.
With the lack of SPL football, I hope I am not the only one getting anxious about a possible move being made by the Green and White. It would be nice to view a new signing in Euros, but until then I’ll just have to be anxious.

Hey, have you heard anything about Switzerland captain Alexander Frei? If that happens, we’ll have one hell of a logjam up top.

Bye Lee. No really. I know you have to go play where you can get some action. No really, we’ll be fine Lee. No no. We know this is something you have to do. Portsmouth! Wow! Great for you. See you later Lee. Hope you have fun down there in the EPL. No Lee, we wouldn’t think of standing in your way.
Be careful there, don’t let the doors of Paradise hit you in the …..

Check this space in the near future, John.
@Martek-You’re not the only one who feels like that. Surely every Celtic fan could not stand in the way of this “career advancement” for Naylor.

Is that picture of Boruc from the Euros? Man, he looks like a kid there.
Its amazing how far Naylor’s star has fallen. He went from a deserved runner up for Player of the Year in 06/07 to a liability just like that. I’m with you guys, he can go whenever he likes. But they need a serious replacement because I wasn’t real impressed with those that filled in for him during this season.

No, that’s an older picture of Boruc I had on my computer. It’s the only one I had where he wasn’t in Celtic garb, so I thought it appropriate. I think a healthy Joe Doumbe could be just what the doctor ordered in place of Naylor. With Caldwell’s improved play, a Hinkel-McManus-Caldwell-Doumbe backline wouldn’t be awful.
