French Names are Awesome!
By: JT | June 24th, 2007
For those of us who are permanently immature and like to giggle at funny foreign names, the latest rumor circulating Celtic Park is real doozy. The Bhoys have been linked to Nice defender Rod Fanni. Fanni plays right back/central defense and the 26-year old is alleged to be Lilian Thuram’s heir apparent in the France squad. If that’s remotely close to true, I’d be amazed he’s being offered so cheap. But he sounds like a tough dude to me, despite his comical surname. Well, both names actually. Monaco have had a £2 million bid for the player dismissed, and Celtic are rumored to be putting in an offer of about £3.5 million.
Two other points: Fanni’s agent’s spectacular name is Dominique Six, which in the US would undoubtedly be the moniker of a 5′11″ busty, blonde porn star. And if Bobo stays around, we could have a central defense partnership of Balde-Fanni! Now that’s a nasty chant just waiting to happen.
Since the News of the World refuses to put all their articles online, we have to rely on other sources to talk about the rumor that Celtic boss Gordon Strachan is the likely candidate for the Manchester City job if a deal with Svengali can’t be reached. Gordo’s connections with Manchester United make this extremely unlikely, he loves his current job, and that Thai guy is shadiness personified. Is the Premier League really going to let that guy own a team?

Yes, and it’s thanks to a BNALL forum, that before traveling to New Zealand, my husband and I decided to trade in our ‘fannypacks’ for ‘bumbags’. The French probably think some of our names are funny too: i.e Beth (sounds like bete or stupid), Chris (sounds like ‘like crisser’ or squealing car brakes).
