I remember Tommy Gemmell telling me that the worse thing that happened to him was when he kicked that German up the erse (look it up on YouTube) causing his international career to end. That was a big deal to him. Nowadays playing in the CL is bigger I reckon than playing for your country. The standard of International fitba' has been dropping for years. This is due to the amount of small nations and useless one-sided games that get played. The whole qualificaion system needs shaken up to be mair attractive. Lets get England to play a team of man-eating tigers in a qualifier for example? Japan to play a set of Orcas wie oot harpoons....I would pay to watch that.
