Hun Spotting
By: Matt | May 17th, 2008
With Rangers having games at hand, Celtic and their supporters have been forced to sit on their hands, watch the Huns play, and hope for the best. Many feared that it’d come to the last day, with Celtic traveling to Dundee needing not only a result their but also needing help from the Sheep of Aberdeen to defeat or draw Rangers. As the American college “football” analyst Lee Corso would say, “NOT SO FAST, MY FRIEND!” Half of this daunting deed has already been done, and the Bhoys needed not to get out of their bed to do it! Today, Rangers feeling perhaps the king of the “European Hangovers”, Rangers traveled to Fir Park and drew with Motherwell 1-1.
For the Huns, it’s been quite the roller coaster of emotion…from excitement in being in the UEFA Cup final, then to anger for those who could not view the UEFA Cup match, to sorrow after losing to the better Zenit St. Petersberg, and then to insanity because….well…that’s what the Huns do in Europe. I hate to say we told you so, but….If we are staying with the drinking analogies, that certainly is quite the bender, so it was no surprise that Rangers seemed a little red in the eye. Surprisingly, the Huns scored first in the 29th minute, but Motherwell equalized in the second half and did a huge favor for Celtic. A lot of respect has to be given to Motherwell and Mark McGhee as not only did they have a minute of applause in Tommy Burns’ honor, but the players also entered the pitch to the song “Mack the Knife” by Bobby Darin, which was Tommy’s favorite song. I’d like to think that up in Heaven Tommy and Phil are smiling cheering on and proud of both Celtic, Motherwell, and Mr. McGhee…
The draw puts Celtic up three points with Rangers only having one game at hand now. If both teams win their remaining games, they will end with the same amount of points, but currently Celtic has a better goal differential of 7 games. For a defensive focused team like Rangers, this seems like a daunting task.
All together now….”Oh the Rangers are Shite!“

Rangers really showed themselves up in Manchester, it was good Zenit finally undid their anti football. It really annoyed me listening to the commentry of the game the word brave and heroes was thrown about so much all the Gers did was sit back. Celtic must surely deny Rangers the title and once again good will defeat evil!!!!!!

I am ready for Thursday. Not only do my MLS Dynamo get to play an eminently winnable game in San Jose, Celtic have as good a chance as there is to end the day league champs once again, and at the strangers’ expense no less. I’ve got a friend traveling to Pittodrie for the game all the way from Houston, amazingly enough, to cheer on the Reds, and he would like nothing more than to deny those guys. With Tommy and Phil and now Lennon back with us, who can stand agin us? The goal differential is 4 now after St. Mirren did their customary suck job today. It’s there for you Bhoys! Mon the Hoops!

I think we’re all ready Martek. Give your Sheepie friend the best and tell him to give the Huns hell for us! While the goal differential is now 4, if the Huns win, then Celtic would have to win by at least 1 meaning that the Huns will have to win by 5!
