It seems that Celtic are fully on the American goalkeeper trend. After attempting to sign Brad Guzan and being linked with Dominic Cervi, there are reports now that Celtic have offered young 17 year old American keeper Abdul “Wild Bill” Hamid. Apparently Hamid was discovered by a Celtic scout last summer playing for his youth team McLean FC. Hamid was brought to Glasgow for a trial in November and impressed the scouts, but had to return to the States after suffering a shoulder injury. Hamid also got a call to play with the United States U20 team, but promptly hurt his shoulder again in the first match.
Upon recovery, Hamid began to train with the MLS side DC United’s youth system and first team. He got another call to Glasgow for a trial and impressed yet again. It is reported that Celtic are interested in offering a reserve contract to him (meaning he could play on the youth and reserve teams). It also appears that there will be no visa troubles for Hamid, as his grandparents were European. It expected that a deal will be worked out soon and Hamid will report to Celtic’s camp on July 2nd.

@John-I think he’s all healed up with it. He’s training with the US U20 team, so hopefully it is all in the past! Have it on a good word that Hamid hasn’t signed yet, but it waiting for other offers. However, he will probably sign with us.

Seems to be a trend developing here. Seems like we must have scouts looking at the US Market for bargins.
