In the press - Trails for Kenny Miller?
By: Cham | February 12th, 2007
The Herald and The Scotsman are both featuring the discomfort of Kenny Miller at Parkhead. Miller had only his second start of the 2007 season in Celtic’s 1-nil defeat of Hibernian at Celtic Park. Paired with Craig Beattie, who headed in the game’s only goal of the day, Miller had a small host of chances, some as early as the match’s initial minutes, but could never capitalize against a rather timid Hibernian side.
Even with Strachan’s obvious number one striker, Dutch international Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, was out on fouls, and Czech man Maciej Zurawski, arguably Gordan’s number two, out on slight injury, this still posits Jiri Jarosik and Beattie in front of crazy Kenny.
The main thought, at least in interview, is Miller’s spot on the Scotland National team. “I want to keep my place in the national team and, if I’m not playing regularly, I’ll not get that. I’m a footballer, I want to be playing football.”
So, we shall see if Kenny remains in hoops, or perhaps to major clubs south of Hadrian’s, like Newcastle, who’s shown interest in one of Scotland’s favorite striker.
“Jan’s the main man. But, hopefully, I can be the guy who’s going to play alongside him.”
We are Celtic. This is the Celtic Offside Report.
