Is It Over Yet? No? Back to Sleep Then
By: JT | September 12th, 2007
Word from Celtic Kingdom has been conspicuously missing on The Offside these last few days, primarily because international football other than the actual Euros and World Cup Finals are pretty much meaningless to me. Can’t we force the minnows to qualify just to get into the qualifiers and eliminate some of this crap that interrupts what really matters? What does Croatia routing Andorra 6-0 really prove? Enough already!
Instead, I chose to go into a personal funk after my other beloved football team, the Philadelphia Eagles, fell in a dismal loss at Green Bay this weekend. Alas, another game is on the horizon, a Monday Nighter against the hated Washington Redskins no less, which will be attended by yours truly. So if you happen to tune in and see a ruggedly handsome gent (i.e me) looking a touch less than fully sober and running onto the field to get the gorgeous specimen at left’s digits, you can say to your friends, “I read that dude’s blog” and really mean it!
Because it looks like I’ll have some time tomorrow, I’ll be courteous and round up the matches that Celtic’s Bhoys played over the last week on their international travels, and then tell you all that I care about is that they came back to Glasgow healthy (yes, that is knocking on wood that you hear in the background).
Oh, the latest Artur Boruc rumor is what you want to talk about? Well, if Arsenal plan on coming in with an offer of £6m like they were talking about in August they’re dreaming. Didn’t they just buy a Polish keeper anyway? A good one too.
If Craig Gordon goes for £9m, then you can bet the King’s not leaving Parkhead for anything less than £12m, and not until next summer anyway as he’s tied up for the Champions League, remember?
