John Kennedy Could Use a Hug
By: Matt | July 8th, 2009
John Kennedy is facing a SEVENTH knee operation which will make or break his career. Kennedy is expected to go under the knife in America within the next three weeks. Kennedy has already had to completely rebuild his knee in 2004, will head to Colorado to get reconstructive surgery. His surgeon has warned Kennedy that it will take another ten months to rehab his knee back into playing shape, if he is even able to ever play again. Kennedy was a huge prospect for Celtic and was thought to be the center back of the future for Celtic, but a tackle by Romania’s Ioan Ganea during his Scotland debut at Hampden on March 31, 2004 started a down-ward spiral in the young Scot’s career. It left his knee in bits and came just days after sensational defensive displays for Celtic against Barcelona and Rangers. The injury took him out for three years, until the end of 2007 season against Kilmarnock. He started the next season well, and even got the nod for a start in the Champions League tie against Shaktar Donetsk, but another injury to his knee saw another abrupt end to his season. A fifth successful operation saw Kennedy back and healthy, and a successful loan to Norwich City, until his latest injury against Reading left him in his current predicament. Hopefully, Kennedy finally gets some good luck and is back healthy after the procedure and rehab.
