Match Preview - Everything you didn’t need to know about Livingston FC
By: Cham | February 3rd, 2007
With Celtic taking on the always dreaded First Divisioners of Livingston F.C., we here at the Celtic Offside thought we’d educate you, the uneducated public, in everything unnecessary concerning the Livi Lions. Livingston faced relegation after last year’s atrocious showing of only four wins and six draws, losing twenty-eight of their thirty-eight Scottish Premier League games. They do have a little stash of silverware; their most recent, the 2004 SFA League Cup, defeating Hibs 2-nil at Hampden Park.
As for the current 06/07 season, Livingston has continued to dwell in their own mediocrity, sitting sixth in the Scottish First Division, on eight wins, seven draws, and nine loses; all this accounting for thirty-one points on twenty-four matches. Not bad for First Division.
As for recent form - their most recent six matches - consider this uninspiring display:
1. Livi 1 - 2 Hamilton LOSS
[lost this match after being up 1-0 at HT]
2. Gretna 4 - nil Livi LOSS
3. Livi 3 - 2 St. Johnstone WIN
4. Hamilton 2 - 4 Livi WIN
[Third Round of the SFA Cup match]
5. Dundee Utd 2 - 0 Livi LOSS
6. Livi 1 - 3 Airdie Utd LOSS
Livi hasn’t been shy about giving up goals, allowing fifteen goals and only scoring nine of their own.
So, we’re politely saying that their form is a bit down, struggling to find wins in the First Division. Of course, the only match that matters is the Third Round match over their First Division peers, the Accies of Hamilton. All this to meet the Bhoys tomorrow in the Fourth
Celtic, on the other hand, have been playing pretty well, as of late.
We are Celtic. This is the Celtic Offside Report.
