McGeady Suspended for 2 games

By: Matt | December 16th, 2008

Celtic have released a statement saying that Aiden McGeady will be suspended “following a breach of club discipline” by Gordon Strachan. Many speculate that Strachan and McGeady had a row after the weekend’s 1-1 draw with Hearts. Rumors are that after the match, Strachan got into McGeady for his play in the match and the Irish Winger was not too happy about it, responding back and eventually walking out of the stadium. There has been loads of speculation about unhappiness between Strachan and McGeady for much of the season, and some speculate that McGeady will be sold this January. Many on the Timernet have taken the side of the winger, citing other instances where Gordon Strachan and his stubbornness effected the club. I must ask these people to reconsider. A manager must be in complete control of his club. He can not tolerate back talk and insubordination from his players. Aiden McGeady is one of my favorite players and his skills are world class, yet by most accounts he’s been a world class prick this season. There have been numerous reports of McGeady pub hopping in Glasgow this season, which led to physical attacks on both McGeady and other teammates. McGeady’s form in the beginning of the season left a lot to be desired and one had to wonder if that was because of his night owl ways. And now we hear of McGeady walking out of the stadium. It seems to me that Aiden McGeady has gotten word of his own press clippings. He does not seem to be humble and thinks he can do whatever he wants. You cannot do this and go over the manager’s head. A successful team cannot function like this. If McGeady does not want to listen to his coaches, then it might be best for him to move on this January. After all, when Shaun Maloney thought he was God’s gift to football and clashed with the manager, his subsequent move to the English Premier League worked out will, did it not? I guess he can go ask him…in the Celtic locker room.

What’s going on with Nakamura? Is he leaving in January or staying for the rest of the season?

    Nolan-http://celtic.theoffside.com/celtic/just-the-facts-maam-hibs-preview.html

Nissan owns the team that wants to buy Naka, and the recent recession has made them decide to wait until the summer when Naka’s contract expires rather than spending a transfer fee on him now, so Naka seems to be Celtic’s for the season.

That’s good to hear, especially if McGeady wants to be a twat.

Agreed Nolan, Naka has been pretty good for us this year, while McGeady has seemingly been turning it on and off all year. Many feel that McGeady has played his last game for Celtic though.

Don’t care if McGeady said Materazzi like stuff to Strachan, he’s the best player on the team and we need him in two weeks. STRACHAN GTF!

Geez, if we lose both Aiden and Naka so close to each other, our midfield is going to look like crap.

John-Rumors are that we might be selling Aiden in January. Naka will be here the rest of the season, so there’s some hope. I personally don’t think McGeady will be sold, but I guess we’ll see.

    Hail! Hail!

First, Aiden is not the best player on our team.

Most likely, Naka or Scott Brown have been the best performers this season.

As well, if Aiden wants to trudge down south and end up relegation fodder – so be it.

Ask Shawn Maloney how “great” it was playing for a middling Prem team. Just when they spend alot ‘o money to get gooder – he sees the writing, etc, etc.

Does anybody know what’s going on with Paddy McCourt?
Not that he is a savior, I just like him (fetish) and I can’t get a bead on ‘m.

    Thanks and Happy Holiday
    Ryan

Ryan-Me thinks Jime likes to stir the pot and say outlandish statements(well, I know it because it is a class mate of mine and he told me he likes to do so on my blog…lulz), but his statement is not far off on what many are saying across the Timernet.

I would agree with Naka and Brooonie being great contributors this year, and might want to add one Gary Fucking Caldwell to that list. Heid’s been phenomenal for us this year.

I love that you mention Maloney. Our point that Aiden has an example of something thinking his shit didn’t smell, butting heads with Strachan, going down south, and coming back with his tail between his legs in the locker room is probably why McGeady’s agent came out and said that Aiden loves Celtic and doesn’t want to leave. I would bet that Team McGeady is hoping that Strachan leaves for Sunderland or gets fired after God’s own Aiden is kept out of the next two games and Celtic struggle allowing Aiden to stay.

As far as Paddy, he’s had some wonderful goals in the reserves. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdIgZLX0WK0 but he’s had some nagging injuries which have affected his training apparently, thus keeping him out of the first team. He’s been on the first team bench a few times, but has yet to play significant minutes. That might change if Aiden is shipped out though.
