More Metaphors
By: Matt | April 25th, 2008
Here in the little bubble from the outside of the world that I like to call “College-Land”, final examinations week is up coming. This where everything you learned comes back and you use it to ultimately succeed when it counts. You study harder than you have all year, perhaps cramming some info that you never learned in the first place. Sure, there are distractions, as people will be saying “Aw, come out to the bars, it’s your last weekend here!” but you’ve got to focus, because it is now or never. Well this situation can be paralleled to the Celtic Football Club very well. Think of Celtic as your average B student this year. They started off the year decently enough, doing well early in classes (being in first place for the first part of the season). They got a little cocky and thought “Why not drink before the night of the test? I know that shit well enough and it’s History 101! That class is sooooo easy!” but of course their grade on said test was not so pretty (early losses to Hibernian, Inverness Caley Thistle). Then that fucking Physics class came! Who fucking needs Physics? It’s so fucking hard, even when he gives it his best! (Being knocked out of the Champions League by giants Barcelona). After that bad grade in Physics, the student got a little frustrated with school and decided to “not give a fuck” as the kids say these days (draws with Falkirk, Motherwell, being knocked out of the cup by Aberdeen).
But now the end of the year is coming, and the student has realized he better get his act together. The big tests are coming up (the split beginning) and he better prepare and pull it all together. He’s gotten some A’s recently (Winning three straight games over Motherwell, Rangers, and Aberdeen), but he can’t get cocky. Constant preparation is the key, especially in that Chemistry class where the Professor is a real dickhead (Rangers). He’s got to remember the atomic weight of plutonium (or remember that Rangers are going to pack the back, so get the ball outside to Aideninho and Naka and let them create). He’s got to stick with the methods that have brought him success (Playing Barry Robson and Paul Hartley, who have had three great games together and leave the eligible Scott Brown on the sidelines), and finally he’s got to have faith in him self (Keep the Faith!)
If you’re looking for not poorly constructed metaphors for your Rangers game preview, I suggest checking out Lord of the Wing! I might give it a real go tomorrow!
I’ll at least give my ideal lineup for Sunday:
Boruc
Hinkel Caldwell McManus Naylor
Nakamura Hartley Robson McGeady
McDonald JVoH

Here’s one for you, make the lineup whatever it is, because with Neil Lennon on the sideline, the team will not lose. Have they lost since he’s been back? The dude will not let them lose. Scott McDonald may wear the armband, but Lennon is The Man.

I love metaphors and this one sounds great!
I’d like to ask you something if that’s okay: Could you sum up how Andi Hinkel is doing at the moment? I don’t get much information on Celtic and since he’s one of “our” former Stuttgart players (and definitely should be considered for the Euro line up, but it’s not like anyone’s listening to me) it would be awesome to get some information from someone who knows more about the team.

Martek-I think Lenny’s first game was the Cup loss against Aberdeen, but I’m not 100% sure.
Anna-Hinkel has been doing pretty well. I believe he’s started all the games he’s been eligible and he’s played around 16 games. He’s also gotten his first goal for Celtic, a nice shot in the box during Celtic’s 3-0 victory over Hearts. Celtic kind of tracks each player and mentions big moments for them, and Hinkel’s can be found here: http://www.celticfc.net/home/players/playerInfo/aHinkel.aspx

Thanks, that’s good to hear! The goal was very beautiful indeed. And the website looks very useful, I’ll keep checking it for updates. Thank you.

Lenny’s first game was the Motherwell defeat lhads.
Matt: Love this article. You hit the nail on the head and you had me laughing out loud. I like thinking of R*ngers as evil professors..like the evil professor in Super Mario. Fat ugly and EVIL…..
Oh, thanks for the link……sound.
Anna: Hinkel has become my favourite German after Andy Thom:-) He has played very well, constant performances and has proved his worth. Decent player should only get better when he fully settles.
Check out here and the lord of the wing for further updates on your man.
Tomorrow canny come quick enough. I’m up early enough, got some DIY to do then I will settle down for the Chelski v Man Yoo game…then out for some BEER!!!!!!
