Nakamura Stays & DaMarcus Goes Blue
By: JT | June 27th, 2007
The rumors that Nakamura is looking to leave Celtic Park have been dismissed and mocked. Apparently Naka has quite a complex set of agents and lawyers, who frequently don’t know what the others are doing. He should get that fixed, for our collective health. Crisis averted. Lawyer fired.
The Celts and Everton are set to duke it out for Sochaux’s Senegalese defensive midfielder Guirane N’Daw. A £2.2 million bid for the player has allegedly been rejected, as Sochaux value N’Daw around £4 million. Commenter extraordinaire Corey over at the Lyon Offside rates him highly, therefore I must. Since FSC stole my live Sunday Ligue 1 match, I’ve been out of the loop with what’s going on in France.
Just when you thought the Appiah-to-Celtic rumors were dead and buried, they reappear. It seems that wages are the big issue regarding any move to Parkhead. Word is that if the Celts can find a suitable club and price for Gravesen, Appiah will be wearing the Hoops next season.
Ignoring my impassioned pleas, DaMarcus Beasley has completed a move to Rangers, using up all of the transfer budget for this term at Ibrox. Lets hope we see more crossbars hit in front of open nets from Mr. Beasley.
From the connecting the dots category: Norwich City, where Celtic keeper David Marshall spent some time on loan last season and is looking to move, picked up a keeper yesterday. City claim they’re still in for Marshall, but their valuation and Celtic’s differ. It’s obvious that Marshall will stay until the very end of the transfer window as cover in case a richer club lines up a raid for Artur Boruc. Marshall’s sale any sooner would leave the Bhoys with the possibility of starting the season with Mark Brown between the sticks if Boruc is lured elsewhere, and nobody wants to see either of those things happen.

(Sorry about this – I’m not a Rangers fan, but I figured there should be some balance)
Crossbars hit in front of open nets? That’s such a long way of saying it. I just call it “pulling a Kenny” (Miller).
Ahh, that’s better. Frankly, as a Scot-American, I’d like to see Beasley do well in the SPL, though I’d also like to see Caley Thistle’s 3-game unbeaten streak against Rangers continue, so he can certainly hit a bar or two in those matches.

No need for balance here.
Like you, Ian, I wish him well except for certain matches.

Good to see that the Naka clause is false. It would be a travesty if he left for such a little amount of money. Should he leave (and I think he will, to be honest), Celtic should get the most out of the deal. After all, they were the ones who brought him to prominence after an unimpressive stint in Italy.
