“New” Home kit released
By: Matt | June 25th, 2008
Celtic released the home kit for the 2008/2009 season. It always seemed like that new home kits, especially with clubs like Celtic where the jersey is known throughout the world and would never see huge alterations, were like trying to reinvent the wheel. You can put rubber on it, but it is still a wheel. The same can be said for this jersey. The most obvious changes are the gold trim and gold “swoosh”, along with the less than subtle slag of Rangers in the Willie Maley quote “It is not the creed or nationality, but the man itself” on the collar. The gold trim looks smart, but other than that it is a Celtic home kit. Green and white hoops, there you have it. (Photos of the kit after the jump)

Nice, but not worth 40 quid if you have an older version…

Hail! Hail! everybody (puncuation not withstanding…)
Im am intrigued by the McCormick signing, but not much else to say. I’ve looked up all the requisite You-tube videos. I’ve read all the media excerpts. Although a winger, he reminds most of Robin Friday, sans the myriad chemicals / alcohol.
He is built like Friday. He looks similar to Friday. He has ball handling skills like Friday and, according to his press, he can frustrate you in any number of ways like Friday.
Regarding the shirts, I like both. However, I can only afford one and I am getting the gold away shirt. I love the jab in the collar and the green printing on the back seals the deal.
I would like to pre-order, so as to wear it to a couple of USL 1, MLS matches.
Anyone feel comfortable convincing me Naka won’t change squad numbers?
Thanks for any insight,

Naka probably won’t change numbers, but it is yet to be seen if he’ll still be in the hoops by season’s end!

Really!
I thought the Yokahama stuff was put to bed in April. Obviously something I don’t know.
I ask about the numbers because one of the media outlets (CelticFC.net, perhaps?) reported Aiden might get the #7 shirt in an attempt to keep him at Parkhead.
As well, should Samaras leave for Lazio, I would think someone jumps on the #9 shirt – McDonald, say.
John Deans wore the #9 as much as any number and he was a diminutive poacher. I liked Kenny Miller’s work rate, but considering his recent signing, I bet Celtic FC want to erase any memories.
Also, I keep waiting for McManus to adopt the #4. I don’t think Jackie is coming back – no sarcasm intended.
I believe Celtic do a fine job of maintaining historical integrity when balancing the squad number system with the positional number system of the past. That being said, I feel Celtic FC would enjoy watching a back line of #2, 5, 4, 3 (please, someone other than Naylor).
As well, Celtic FC enjoy having a reputable #7 on the pitch. I am sympathetic to any sheepishness when one considers “Magic” wore that last.
As said, I would like to pre-order a shirt so as to sport the colors at a couple of USL 1 / MLS matches. If I wait too long, I’ll miss the opportunity to represent.
I enjoy having printed shirts, as much for posterity as for folklore. You bet I have a Pierre Von Hooydonk shirt (95/96). But I have two “McStay” away shirts as well (92/93, 94/95)…among others. I want my son to ask the inevitable questions when he gets older.
Thanks for the info.

Skippy has got number 7.
I read Robin Fridays book after he appeared on the cover of the Super Furry Animals “The Man Don’t Give A F*ck” EP.
I love wingers and players wie a screw loose. Not playing for the Hoops though!!!!
