News round up! Yee-haaw!

naw, neil these are my awards Over the past couple of days, there have been a couple newsworthy stories either directly or indirectly involving the Bhoys in Green and White. The first of which is Aiden McGeady scooping up the award double this past weekend after being named both the Player of the Year and the Young Player of the Year by the Scottish Professional Football Players Association. McGeady got the from fellow SPL players over teammates Barry Robson and Scott McDonald, as well as Rangers Defender and goalie in training (special thanks to the famous Tim Park for the wonderful commentary on that video) Carlos Cuellar. McGeady winning this award means that for the third year in a row a Celtic player has picked up this award. After winning the award, McGeady said ““I am surprised. I thought there were a couple of people ahead of me for Player of the Year and I thank my team-mates for helping me win and my fellow professionals who voted for me.” Oh don’t be bashful, Aideninho…EDIT: Aiden also thanked Nacho Novo for “letting him out of his pocket to collect his awards

The Celtic Youth team has earned a spot in the Youth Cup final against that team that everyone loves to hate (just ask Aberdeen fans at Celtic Park this weekend). The Bhoys are hoping to improve upon last year’s final against the Huns, where they were blown out of Hampden Park early. It’s always fun to beat that team, so if you’re in the area, I encourage you to head to Hampden Park tomorrow night at 7:30. It is entrance at the gate and it is only £5/£2 concessions.

Finally, the SFA, in all their wisdom, have decided that the SPL season will be extended by 4 days, to May 22nd if the Huns beat Fiorentina to make it to the UEFA Cup Final. If this idea sounds familiar, it is because Celtic applied for it last year and were rejected. Hmm…..I don’t think it will matter as I think the Huns will be humped by Fiorentina but the SFA continues to set the dangerous precedent of “whatever is necessary for Rangers”.
