Rosemary Burns to fly Champions Flag

Celtic have announced that Rosemary Burns, the late Tommy Burns’ wife, will be hoisting the 2007/2008 SPL Champions Flag over Celtic Park on August 10th during the pre-match festivities before opening day. This seems like a very fitting tribute to Tommy, especially in a season that was marked by his passing and dedicated to his memory. Celtic’s chairman had this to say, “It’s in memory of the fact that she was part of the Celtic family and stood together with Tommy in everything that he gave to this club. It’s a small way of recognizing that.” A class gesture by the club all the way. There is also talk that this might set a precedent of someone else besides the Chairman of the Club hoisting the Champions Flag on the next season’s opening day.
