Skippy the Kangaroo signs an extension

By: Matt | June 17th, 2008

The first signing of Celtic’s transfer season is a thirty goal scorer. Yes, Scott McDonald will remain in the Hoops for the near future, signing a 5 year contract extension. The 24 year old Australian international came to the Hoops from Motherwell last summer. While McDonald was a proven goal scorer at the ‘well, he wasn’t exactly a popular signing with the Celtic faithful mostly due to a certain goal he scored on a certain last day and his celebration after said goal. It seems that Celtic fans can forgive and forget about it when Skippy scores 31 goals, including some big goals in the Champions League. McDonald also comes from a Celtic mad family in Australia, so I’m sure the whole McDonald family will be excited about the extension. McDonald commented that the deal was agreed on before the end of the season, but he had to concentrate on winning the league and then international duties with the Australia Socceroos. Once he finally had a chance to sit down and sign the deal, he did.

His 31 goals and record before he came stand up to scrutiny. Unlike 5 goals in 30 that some lanky Irishman has scored and that some dumbfecks have paid over £3m for.

I had my doubts over him. He has proved me well wrong and as I have said to all that will listen

HE WILL SCORE OVER 100 GOALS FOR CELTIC.

Agree, we will sign another striker but I think he will be a “bigman” type not a scavenger.

@Kevin-Do you think that Celtic’s “attempts” at Lafferty were legitimate or perhaps trying to drive up his price? Offer a lifetime Rangers supporter who would never sign with us 3.5 to get his asking price for his heroes up a little bit on the striker that, as you mentioned, scored five goals…

Good that they got him re-signed. He has been playing well for the Hoops and is still in his prime. Hopefully next year Skippy will be even better.

The Hubby’s got to like the fact that he’s Australian right Nurse? Oh that’s right, he isn’t a hoops supporter…
