Strachan Resigns; Lennon offered head job but signs with ‘gers

By: Matt | March 31st, 2008

According to sources, Celtic has called a press conference to announce that Gordon Strachan has stepped down as head coach of Celtic. It is expected that Garry Pendry will be named as the interim manager until the summer. However, there is apparently more to the story than meets the eye. It seems that there will be one other press conference in Glasgow tomorrow, as Rangers will be adding another coach to the staff. It is rumored that Celtic offered their head job to recent player and Northern Ireland international, Neil Lennon. However, it seems that David Murray, in an effort to try and clean up the sectarian associations related to Rangers in the past, outbid Celtic and Lennon will be joining Walter Smith’s side. Smith was reached for comment and said “This April, we will Fool Celtic in more ways then one. This is a good step to improve our side and Neil will bring lots of experience and knowledge.” Lennon could not be reached for quote, however this could be one of the most shocking stories of one of the most turbulent seasons in Celtic history.

…….APRIL FOOLS! With the troubles facing the team lately, I thought a wee bit of humor was in order to maybe cheer everyone up! Hopefully everyone hit the “read more” button and didn’t have a heart attack. Serious posts later in the week.

Definitely good to see you’ve kept your humor after the derby … certainly there are Hoops fans who haven’t. Nice one. You had me until Lennon. As Chef’s father once said, “That’s when I started to get suspicious.”

PS – UEFA has dropped the sectarian chanting probe against Celtic, so no worries there.

Glad to see everyone getting some humor out of it :-D . Nick, the chanting was IRA and anti-queen stuff, so I’m not really surprised that it was dropped three days after the charges were made.
