The Genius of Naka Leads Japan into Asian Cup Quarters
By: JT | July 17th, 2007The superb Shunsuke Nakamura created the goal that drew Japan level with Vietnam in the first half, and scored the one that effectively shut the door as Japan powered past Vietnam 4-1 in the Asian Cup.
Naka broke out some of his best Dance Dance Revolution moves down the left wing, clearly bamboozling the full back and lofting a fine cross with his left foot that lined up an easy chest-in for Seiichiro Maki.
Another great team move let to Naka’s second goal of the tournament, a right footed beauty he masterfully guided into the top left corner from the top of the box.
Japan are into the quarters this Saturday against the Aussies. This was probably the match the organizers wanted to see in the final, but Australia’s 3-1 mauling by Iraq, of all American colonies, left them teetering on the brink of elimination before they squeaked through with a 4-0 thumping of Thailand.

Some great stuff from Naka. He’s really starting to get the recognition worldwide that he deserves, and this can only help.
