Fortune in Glasgow UPDATE!-7/7
By: Matt | July 6th, 2009
It’s looking more and more likely that Marc-Antoine Fortune is going to be Tony Mowbray’s first signing as Celtic manager. STV is reporting that Fortune is in Glasgow for signing talks. Although no deal has been finalised, Celtic are believed to have settled a £3.8million fee with AS Nancy, with the player looking increasingly likely to sign with Celtic instead of Hull, Portsmouth, and other EPL teams. A statement on the Nancy’s website reads: “In contact with several British clubs, Marc-Antoine Fortune is currently in Glasgow to visit Celtic.” Fortune played under Mowbray during a loan for West Brom last season, scoring five goals in 17 league appearances. According to Fortune’s agent Michael Maneullo, the French striker should make an announcement on his decision by tomorrow. There are also reports that Mowbray is interested in signing Landry N’Guemo.
UPDATE-7/7-BBC is now reporting that Fortune has agreed to terms and will be undergoing a physical today. Along with Fortune, Nancy team-mate Landry N’Guemo is poised for a season’s loan at Celtic. N’Guemo is a defensive midfielder who has spent his entire career with Nancy and made 33 appearances last season. Tony Mowbray’s new Celtic recipe will seen to have a French flavor to it.

Looks like he will sign, just not sure if he will be good enough to justify the price tag

TM wanted the player, EPL clubs pushed up the price and the player is only worth what people are willing to pay.
Nancy have played a blinder in all this. They only wanted 1.5m a few months back but that cunt Phil Brown opening his mouth means that they have got £3m more than they wanted…

Celtic Shirts-It’s not as pricey as it first seems. Rumors are, we’ll be paying 1.5 million a year for Fortune, which really isn’t that bad. He’s a big striker who can finish, don’t forget he was up against EPL defenses, of which the quality he probably won’t see again in the SPL. Don’t want to write him off before he’s here and want to put my trust in Mogga.
