Killen and O’Dea likely to be Moved
By: Matt | August 31st, 2009Both Chris Killen and Darren O’Dea have had their names linked with possible moves from Celtic today. Chris Killen could be on his way out of Celtic on loan, if Tony Mowbray can sign another striker before the transfer window closes tomorrow. Killen would most likely be heading to a English Championship club, with Coventry and Bristol City’s names coming up frequently. Meanwhile, Darren O’Dea has also been rumored to be going on loan to the Colaship or even the EPL, with both Roy Keane and Ipswich and Wolves vying for the services of the young Irish center back. Tony Mowbray has commented that both Chris Killen and Darren O’Dea have futures with Celtic, which is why these moves could possibly be only loan moves. It also seems that Aiden McGeady, Scott Brown, and Scott McDonald also have long term futures with Celtic, despite being linked with EPL clubs such as Spurs, Everton, and Wigan. On Sunday, Tony Mowbray told the media that they should not pay much mind to the rumors that surround the trio of players, making most believe that the three will remain at Celtic past tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
UPDATE: Darren O’Dea has been loaned to Colaship side Reading. However, O’Dea has also signed a three year extension with Celtic to remain with the club until 2012. It seems Celtic have the option of calling O’Dea back in January, so maybe Tony Mowbray will be using the Stephen McManus, Gary Caldwell, and Glenn Loovens, but maybe trying to raise the value of one of those three (aka McManus) and sell them like he did with Massimo Donati. Or maybe we’re trying to get a signing in before the deadline in an hour and a half. We shall see.
UPDATE #2: Backup of the Backup of the Backup keeper Mark Brown is off to Kilmarnock on loan for the season after Hibs dropped their interest in the keeper.
UPDATE #3: Chiense midfielder Zheng Zhi will likely sign after taking a physical. Zhi is a member of the Chinese national team and was at Charlton, but his contract ended.

I don’t see how Killen has a future he has never shown anything since his arrival and the guy is 27 he is not a youngster, best to get rid of him I think

I can’t see why you’d let your #3 central defender on loan for the rest of the year. There are lots of games to play between now and January and my gut feeling is that O’Dea is going to be missed.

Aye exactly… WTF! Why let O’Dea go? Who’s gonny step up when we have someone out injured or someone (Heid) starts playing shit?

I agree with JK, although I suppose we do still have Caddis. O’Dea will be missed…

JK and Co.-I’d agree, but I’m hoping that we’re trying to sign another CB before the deadline today.

The word is also that ToMo rates young Josh Thompson. He’s already been on the bench for a few matches and, when Milan Misun gets healthy, will be teamed with him to back up Mick and Heid.
