Maceo, Massimo, & Achilles Rehab

Maceo Rigters (Pronounced Reeters), the top scorer at the recently completed U21 European Championships, looks set to join Celtic. He’s good friends with Evander Sno, so the move has been rumored for a while. As the Euros progressed fans became concerned that a richer club might steal him away. All indications are that Rigters, 23, is psyched to make the move and can be brought in for a mere £500,000 from NAC Breda. If anyone can explain to me why a 23 year-old is playing U21 football, that would rock.

Massimo Donati is in the house and ready to kick some ass. If his play is half as dashing as his looks, we’ve got one hell of a midfielder. He’ll be officially unveiled as a Bhoy on Friday.

Apparently we’re raiding Sochaux again, this time for Liverpool owned and distinctly average Anthony LeTallec. If we end up with Rigters, we’ll have more than enough squad strikers to go around, so there is no need to bring this guy in.

Speaking of squad strikers, Chris Killen is ready to go. He’s been rehabbing his Achilles and is looking forward to the competition during the preseason. I’ve been the victim of an Achilles rupture myself, and I can tell you that getting back to your best is painful, time consuming, and as frustrating as anything I’ve ever dealt with. In a word, it SUCKS. More power to the Kiwi for getting back to 100%, though I don’t know that we’ll be seeing him all that much on the pitch.

Whoever’s running West Bromwich Albion is officially bonkers. They want £5 million apiece for Koumas and Kamara, who are top of the Championship and bottom of the Premiership players on their very best days. Now they’re going to pay Celtic £1.25 million up front and an extra £500,000 later for Craig Beattie! Craig Beattie! Thank you WBA and Peter Lawwell, you are the man.

The Danny Shittu rumors are back. Could a Fanni-Shittu partnership in the center of defense be in the offing? I hope to heavens not.
