More Bad News for Hartson
By: Matt | July 15th, 2009Former Celtic striker John Hartson is in a critical condition after emergency surgery on his brain following a cancer diagnoses. At the weekend, 34-year-old Hartson was told he had testicular cancer which had spread to his brain. He was told yesterday that it had spread to his lungs. Hartson had undergone surgery at Morriston Hospital in Swansea, after being transferred from the city’s Singleton Hospital. A hospital statement read: “He is currently being cared for by the critical care team at Morriston and is receiving round-the-clock care aiming to stabilize his condition. We have been overwhelmed by the support and goodwill from many thousands of football fans, players, clubs and sporting figures and we have drawn strength from this support John Hartson’s family. He will resume radiotherapy and chemotherapy as soon as possible.” Hartson’s family also released a statement saying “He is receiving outstanding care from all the medical and surgical staff and we would like to thank everyone at both Singleton and Morriston, as well as the excellent ambulance staff. We have been overwhelmed by the support and goodwill from many thousands of football fans, players, clubs and sporting figures and we have drawn strength from this support.” Hartson’s condition may have worsened but the support he will get, including from this blog, will not falter. Keep fighting Big Bad John! You’ll Never Walk Alone!

Big John will always be an inspiration. My heart is heavy and I find myself teary eyed for a man I’ve never met,yet meant so much to me as a supporter. I am terribly saddened by this news and encourage everyone to keep the faith. As always, YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE,Big John. Love from Baltimore,Maryland,USA
