Rumor: Newcastle wants Boruc for £4milli…bwahahahahahahahahaha
By: Matt | March 30th, 2009
I almost made it through writing that headline with a straight face, but as you could see I couldn’t quite make it. Numerous sources a reporting that relegation battling Newcastle United are interested in Artur Boruc and are looking to secure him with a £4million bid. Apparently the Magpies are looking at Boruc to be a long term replacement for Shay Given, who moved on to Man City. While I know that it has been a off year for Boruc, including Saturday’s howler of a goal for Poland when the ball bounced over his foot, but let us not forget that Boruc was one of the best players in this past summer’s Euro 2008 tournament. £4 Million is a joke of a bid for one of the best keepers in the world and if Celtic accept this bid for Boruc, then I can already see the angry mobs forming outside of Peter Lawwell’s office. It would be safe to say that I would be one of those torch wielding members of said angry mob. There is no reason that Celtic should be low-balled on this one and if no one wants to pay what Boruc is worth, then Celtic will continue to enjoy his services.

I think the goal where it bounced over Artur’s foot was due to the crappy pitch at Windsor Park. He should have handled that cross that led to the first goal better though.

i suppose a players only as good as his form. He’s a good keeper, better than Steve Harper? Dunno. Better than 90% of premiership goalies? NO. He’s overweight, still, not as bad as he was but still.
£4m-£6m on a good day seems about rightPosted from

Colin-But he’s proven that he’s worth more than that before. I think if Celtic don’t get the price they want, they’d be more than happy to keep Boruc around. Besides, why would Boruc want to go to the Colaship instead of Champions League football?

Gents, there have been many great games by goalkeepers, can’t say such and such was the best but I’ve watched the Germany/Poland match a few times at the world cup and that is one of the best performances I’ve ever seen. He proved there he is one of the best in the world. A lot of people think that and maybe I am wrong.
I wonder too, if he was a bit psyched out and intimidated with the crowd in Northern Ireland. I’m not making excuses but that can be a possibility. Your Celtic has lost some bad games this year, I don’t know if he was in that Cup game debacle. Poland really took out that loss by walloping San Marino, 10-0 I believe. NI is often a stumbling block for a lot of teams, Spain, England, they are to be reckoned with.
