“It’s the most important game of the season…until the next one.”
By: Matt | April 15th, 2008
That headline says it all, and Georgios Samaras has hit the nail on the head with it. All other “must win games” pale in comparison to the one tomorrow. While the title for Celtic is still a long shot, any comeback hopes begin and end tomorrow. It’s a simple as this. While Gordon Strachan might not believe it, a win and it’s on. A loss and it is over. WGS saying that is not over with a loss is a little worrying. Celtic NEED to come out like a team that NEEDS to win. It’s three points or enjoy talk of at least a double for the Huns (possibly a quad) all summer. I don’t want that, you don’t want that, the team doesn’t want that, and Gordon Strachan won’t want that, though if it happens he may not be employed to hear it.
The tactics aren’t going to be a surprise. Rangers will be cautious and pack the back, hoping to score on the counter. Celitc have to control the ball and players like Nakamura and Aiden McGeady have to make things happen on the wings because Rangers aren’t going to allow anything to happen in the middle of the park. I hope to see Paul Hartley and Barry Robson in the middle after a strong performance in Motherwell last week. They might be the most important players on the field for Celtic tomorrow. In order to bring home three points, Robson and Hartley have to make the first pass to get things going out of the middle AND stop counter attacks that Rangers bring. If they put in a good performance like last Sunday, I expect Celtic to take all three points. My prediction is Celtic 2-Rangers 1.
In other news, the yearly awards for the SPL were given out last night and Aiden McGeady was named “Young Player of the Year” and was also nominated for player of the year, along with Scott McDonald and Barry Robson. Congratulations to Aideninho and we’ll need a “Young Player of the Year” performance from you Wednesday.

Think you have been a bit hard on GS there Matt. I think he was just highlighting the FACT that winning every derby is a must.
Hartley and Robson must dominate. That is the key.
As is the first goal.

Can’t win every derby if you don’t win the first.
You are apparently, unspammed by the way. Perhaps a link is in order for ye to make up for it
